When I got the email from J’s mama about coming to see them for a family photoshoot again at their Sharon, Massachusetts home in August, I smiled right away – it’s always one of my favorite sessions.
I really do look forward to seeing these guys every year — this is a family that has a special place in my heart.
Sharon MA Family Photoshoot
I think this year marks our 11th photoshoot! See, I’ve been working with J and his family since he was 15 months old, shortly after his heart transplant, and I can’t say enough how much I absolutely adore spending time with them. I’m constantly impressed by their communication and overwhelming love. J may be nonverbal, but his mom and dad share a beautiful relationship with him that allows them to know what he needs when he needs it—and they certainly don’t need words to express their love for each other!
The boot is off!
This year, J had a tough summer because he broke his leg. He was in a boot for a long time, which meant that his mom and dad had to carry him around a lot. Thankfully, he’s feeling much better now. The boot is off, and he’s back to school. I’m so glad for them that they can get back to real life now that J is able to move more freely.
The Other Star of the Show: Rocky!
And of course, it was wonderful to see their dog, Rocky, again. Poor Rocky lost an eye and has gone completely blind in the last few years, but he is so beloved by J and his parents – he’s really clearly the fourth member of the family. Isn’t he just adorable?
Throughout the session, I had a blast hanging out with their whole family. It’s so obvious how much love J shares with his parents, and I always adore watching them all play. Whether he’s on the swingset or getting tickles, he always has that infectious smile. The love and laughter that surrounds me whenever I see this family is my favorite part of coming for these photoshoots.
J, I love seeing you and your family, and I look forward to it every year.
Thank you again for having me out!
